- If you know anything about solar panels, there is no substitute for surface area. The bigger the panel, the more juice. If you ahve a 3500 maH battery to charge, you're going to need lots of sun and surface area. This little guy does not have a lot of surface area. No brainer - it will take a loooooooong time to fully charge it. I knew that going in when I bought mine. Previously I purchased a Brunton foldable solar panel with the hopes of charging my cell phone directly. The Brunton would easily charge a couple of AA cells from its supplied AA holder through its USB jack - BUT - it wouldn't start charging my Droid-X. Bummer.
