I bought this a while back without the guide 10 power pack and it's a good device in direct sunlight and charges just fine, but if you're going to use it for backpacking and strap it on top of your bag and be hiking through trees don't expect much. I did exactly that, I had it charging my iphone while I was hiking so I could use the camera and ipod portion of it as needed.
