- Twice I bought the ZAGG Sparq Battery Backup and Charger. Twice it failed, or I got two defective units.I had hoped to be able to carry this charger on hikes in the Cascade Mountains--with up to four full charges for my iphone it seemed a fantastic item. Doesn't weigh much or take up much space. Before I got to hike, I took it on a overseas flight. When I went to use it to charge my iphone, it DISCHARGED my phone, and beeped every 8 or so seconds. Major failure. I had successfully charged it for 9 hours prior to my flight, but something was defective with this item.I returned it and got another one. - Just filed my second warranty claim.Warranty process is online and pretty simple. If you buy this item, you will likely need to send it back.I bought my first one in the summer. Stopped working completely within a few days. Second one works sometimes. You plug it in, charge it for a day and sometimes it works. Pretty often, it has four LED lights indicating a full charge after a full day of charging. Once you plug it in, the charge instantly drains. This happens every once in a while.This piece is not reliable enough to take on a trip or anything. Pretty much defeats the main purpose of having it.I use it mainly at home as I dont travel much.
